Utah Jazz Bringing Ante Tomic Next Year?

In an article posted today by Tim Buckley titled: "Contrary to report, Jazz not looking to deal rights to Ante Tomic", it actually talked about one of the Jazz's former 2nd round picks! The Jazz drafted Tomic in the 2nd round of the 2008 draft. And have yet to reach a buyout agreement for him to come in play for them.

In the article it said: "It's believed that 23-year-old Tomic does not have an opt-out clause in his current contract for next season, but he could come to the NBA in time for the 2011-12 season."

According to a FIBA.com report, "Tomic has been so prolific since his arrival ... he's been likened in Spain to their national team star, 2006 FIBA World Championship MVP Pau Gasol" — but it's "not a comparison he welcomes."

"I don't like that because he is a great player, probably the best in Europe," Tomic said of Gasol, according to the website. "I only hope that one day they can compare me to him, but not yet."

Tomic is a 7'2" Croatian center playing in Spain. To take a look at his statistics for the past season click here.

He appears to be making good progress overseas and maybe after another season there he will be able to come to the Jazz and contribute.
