Why they ever changed their logo is beyond me!!
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers like the Lions have a lot of needs to address in this draft. The overwhelming consensus is that the Bucs are going to pick a defensive player with their first pick in next month’s draft. I do not think their biggest need is on defense but rather offense. They drafted Josh Freeman last year to be the QB of the future and now the need to get more talent for him. Look at it, the Bucs current number 1 receiver is a tossup between Michael Clayton and Marcus Stovall! I am guessing most of you have not heard of either player, which is a good sign that they are not top flight talent. My first choice for them would be to trade down couple spots pick up an additional 3rd round draft choice and get Dez Bryant; however, I am not the one making the call and therefore this will not happen. The Bucs first pick really comes down to 2 players: Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma and Eric Berry from Tennessee.
At first glance the pick should be Eric Berry; who is considered one of if not the best player in this year’s draft. He is being called a clone of Ed Reed for crying out loud! Tell me one team that would want that type of talent in their secondary. The stat that supports this pick is that the Bucs were 26th in TD given up via their passing defense. To me that stat is a telling sign that the safeties are not providing the corners with enough help over the top in coverage. Now for the stat I think the Bucs will give more credence to, is that they ranked 10th in the league last year in yard in pass defense and 32nd in yard on rush defense (in case you are wondering that is last place). It appears this defense would have struggled to stop Chris Berman from rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown (Whoop)! For that reason I believe the Bucs will pick Gerald McCoy out of Oklahoma with their first pick, which is still a good pick. If you will recall in 1995 the Bucs took Warren Sapp from Miami with the 13th pick overall and he helped anchor a Super Bowl Championship defense.

I'd take Berry... but that might just be because I watch BYU get burned all season, every season in the secondary!
I agree with you on that! The rules in the NFL appeal to teams having an offense that is centered on passing. Because of that it increases the role a safety can play in a game, just increasing the value of Berry in my opinion.
