USA vs. England

First of all, as a disclaimer to all followers, all writers here at the cave know little about the game of football but all of us are ecstatic to see this years world cup! Today the U.S. squared off against England, and showed a lot of character. England was a man down without one of the greatest strikers in the world(David Beckham), but this is no excuse. This game was the biggest game that the U.S. has had in decades and they rose to the occasion.

The U.S. fell behind early with a goal by Ricardo Clark in the fourth minute but regained confidence when Clint Dempsey of the U.S. answered with a goal of his own after a mishandled ball by goalie Robert Green.

In the 29th minute U.S. goalie Tim Howard injured his ribs when Emile Heskey of England slid his foot into Howard's chest spikes up. At halftime Howard took a painkiller injection, allowing him to remain in the game, which was a huge factor saving shot attempts left and right. Now for all you soccer haters out there that say soccer is for sissies, which part of getting an injection at halftime is considered sissy?

The U.S. arose to the occasion today and showed a lot of character as to who they can hang with in this years World Cup but most of all the U.S. regained their confidence, which was so horribly beat down in World Cups of the past.

I will leave with just one question and ask someone to reply in the comments. What is with the constant sound of horns in the background of these soccer games? It's like a 90 minute warm up for the London Philharmonic for crying out loud...enough already!
