Greg Monroe... NBA rookie of the year.

So the draft lotto has come and gone, and we didn't move up from nine like we all dreamed earlier today. BUT, all is not lost. I have found a piece that just might give a little excitement to our # 9 pick. This comes from someone claiming to be an agent (take it for what it's worth):

Utah Jazz: Greg Monroe/Georgetown – Georgetown being upset in the first game of the big dance did not help Monroe’s stock, but the Jazz will lose Boozer and will realize that Mehmet Okur is not a center. Monroe possesses phenomenal footwork and can stretch the floor, and if big men could ever win the rookie of the year award, he would be the leading candidate.

Here's to an exciting off-season!

P.S. His uncle Norman Dixon played football at BYU(87-90)!! Is it fate!?!

Dignan which of these undeveloped skills makes Greg Monroe a Rookie of the Year candidate? This comes from draftexpress.com I think I'll stick to Cole Aldrich who's bread and butter is the pick and roll!

- Turnover prone
- Ball-handling skills w/either hand
- Activity level
- Defensive Post Presence
- Man to man defense
- Consistency
- Mental/Physical toughness?
- College system makes him difficult to evaluate
- Unorthodox style
- Ability to finish w/either hand
- Average athleticism
- Inconsistent shooter
- Lacks great range on jumper

Hey "Debbie downer", I just was giving a little hope for the kids. Besides about half of those you could say for Cole as well! I'm not saying Monroe is the worlds greatest "sleeper" pick, I'm just saying if he (OR COLE FOR THAT MATTER) fall to #9 it's a good pick. I showed COLE as the JAZZ's answer not a week ago remember?
*Anyway most of the early stuff coming from local talking heads says that the JAZZ need, and most likely will trade up. With the Draft not being excessively loaded, a nine this year with a another first round pick next year might persuade a Sacramento or a Minnesota to trade us so we could get Cousins.

I think that this is a great idea. When we traded up and got Deron it was the best thing that's happened to us since the 80's and I think Cousins could be a great asset to our squad as well.
