An article out of Denver says the MWC could offer as soon as Monday (June7th) an invite to Bosie St. to Join it's conference. This is a football move. The rest of Bosie's sports teams will tag along bringing the lousy records they have, but the addition of a TRUE college football powerhouse (If you argue that you're an idiot) would do for the MWC something that would be historic. The consistency of the MWC's top three over the last 4 years is unmatched in the WAC/MWC history. If the MWC was to truly make a move for an "auto" bid into the BCS, NOW IS THE TIME.
The article explains the need to make an "offensive" move now instead of waiting for someone else to start the Conference shake up. I like that! We have nothing to lose in being aggressive towards the BCS auto-bid... although we may get it by default for a while.
If Boise st. comes into the MWC, the conference champion of a league that holds Boise, Utah, BYU, and TCU will pretty much be an undisputed BCS team. That is why this addition is so huge. We still wouldn't get the huge $ that the auto bids get, but that will come! The real move would be to add two other teams on top of Bosie as to get to 12... now according to the rules of the NCAA, a conference can have a Conference Championship game if it has 12 teams or more. I think you make a run at Nevada and Houston as well as Boise St. to put it at 12.
The Money would be there; the big 12 championship game is the highest grossing non Bowl game.
the fans would be there; two Texas teams, all of Nevada, 2 Utah teams, and a power house up north!
Don't look now, but that's a POWER CONFERENCE!

Great post! I couldn't agree more! Why do the Mtn West have to talk about going to another conference? Why not go after the good non BCS teams and make a strong conference?! I like the addition of Nevada and Houston as well. All of these teams would benefit from this type of move.
It's a total win-win... I really think Houston could be a break out the next couple of seasons!
